Vincent is the Senior Partner of the firm, and is also a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public.
He began his career as a corporate/commercial lawyer with a medium size corporate firm in Singapore in April 1995, before joining an established law firm in 1996 as a litigation, real estate and general practice lawyer. He was admitted as a partner in 2000. He then set up a partnership law firm Vincent Lim & Joseph Goh in 2003 before establishing the present partnership law firm JLC Advisors LLP on 1 August 2008.
Vincent’s practice includes civil and commercial litigation and dispute resolution (including industrial and vehicle accident claims involving property damage, personal injury and workmen compensation issues); family and matrimonial law; real estate/conveyancing and property law; corporate / commercial law (including advising local and foreign clients on joint ventures, investments, distributorship, licence and/or franchise arrangements, as well as company, shareholders and partnership matters and bankruptcy and insolvency matters); probate and administration law (including drafting of Wills and Trusts); insurance law; landlord and tenant law; employment and immigration law and intellectual property and technology right
・Advised a major Singapore architectural company in their joint venture projects with their Indian partners for construction-related projects in Singapore and India.
・Advised a major international pharmaceutical company (based in Singapore) in many of their distributorship, licence and franchise agreements with Singapore parties.
・Advised a major local airline company and local aircraft leasing company in their various commercial agreements and tie-ups with local parties.
・Acted for a popular food and beverage establishment in Singapore in their franchise arrangements with franchisors and/or interested parties.
・Acted for a Singaporean individual (based in the United Kingdom) in discharging a Mareva Injunction obtained against him in the Singapore High Court.
・Acted for an established United Kingdom company (with offices world-wide), whose business is in offering language courses and self-study language courses (the "UK company"), in submitting a domain name dispute with the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC).
・Acted for the same UK company in concurrent civil suits in the Singapore High Court and Singapore State Courts involving breaches of a licence agreement, trademark disputes and defamation.
・Acted for a Singapore public listed company in their many commercial and contractual disputes with local and/or foreign parties.
・Acted for a major Singapore transport company in defending a claim for damages as a result of a vehicle that caught fire whilst being transported under their care.
・Acted for a foreign company in their purchase of 20 units of a prime condominium project in Singapore.
・Acted for the same foreign company in their purchase of another 24 units of another prime condominium project in Singapore.
・Acted and acting for various local and foreign banks in Singapore (the "banks") in numerous real estate / conveyancing transactions (involving sale, purchase and/or mortgage of Singapore properties (development projects as well as completed projects), in the preparation of security documents for the banks' small and medium enterprise corporate customers and in shipping mortgages and vessel financing matters.
・Acted for a long established Singapore shipping company in their many shipping mortgages and vessel financing matters.
・Acted and acting for various management corporations ("MCSTs") in the recovery of maintenance arrears from many registered proprietors.
・Acted as external legal counsel for a major managing agent in their corporate/commercial matters and in their contractual disputes with various other MCSTs.
