Profile and Expertise
Jeffrey is an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore and is a partner of the firm. He is also admitted as a Solicitor in the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales.
He previously practiced in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department of J Koh & Co and Allen & Gledhill, before moving on to practice in the Dispute Resolution and Restructuring department at DLA Piper Singapore.
On the dispute resolution front, Jeffrey frequently works with Queen’s Counsel and Senior Counsel in relation to arbitration and litigation matters, with a particular focus on crisis litigation and proceedings. He has represented clients in a diverse spectrum of matters concerning white collar crime, shareholder disputes, employment and contractual disputes, construction, banking, and international sale of goods.
On the corporate advisory front, Jeffrey specialises in corporate restructuring and also advises the boards of several public companies listed on the Singapore and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
・Acting for a Singapore public listed company in a multi-million dollar construction dispute under the SIAC arbitration rules in relation to a condominium development.
・Acting for a Singapore public listed company in a multi-million dollar construction dispute under an ad-hoc arbitration by contract in relation to foundation and piling works for a major expressway.
・Acting for one of the world's largest industrial coatings manufacturers in the Singapore High Court in relation to a multi-million dollar claim against the Company for liquidated damages and breach of contract under the Sales of Goods Act.
・Acting for one of the world's largest inter-dealer broking firms in a S$50 million employment dispute in the Singapore High Court involving a competitor seeking injunctive relief and the enforcement of restrictive covenants against more than 50 former employees of the Company's competitor.
・Acting for a major Chinese paper and pulp producer in a multi-million dollar dispute with an international paper and pulp producer in relation to the formation of a joint venture company in the PRC under the SIAC arbitration rules.
Singapore Counsel for an international reinsurance company defending a Singapore High Court Suit by their Korean cedants.
・Acting for a PRC-listed company who are the Respondents in an SIAC Arbitration concerning the validity of an arbitration clause within an Asset Purchase Agreement.
・Acting for a company in a US$100 million claim against an international investment bank involving misrepresentation and mis-selling of complex financial and structured products.
・Acting for an Indonesian family in a USD 2 million claim against a private bank.
・Acting for an individual in a SGD 12.25 million Singapore High Court Suit against a PRC-listed company for a failed sale & purchase of a block of shares in a Singapore public-listed company.
・Acting for the Claimants in an international arbitration concerning a put option within a sale & purchase agreement of shares in a privately-held company. The amount in dispute is SGD 11 million.
・Advising and acting for clients in the corporate restructuring and/or reverse take-over of various public listed as well as private non-listed companies. This includes the restructuring of the company and the cross border tracing of assets, resolution of shareholder disputes, applications for schemes of arrangement under section 210 of the Companies Act, and the requisition and successful conduct of extraordinary general meetings for various companies under section 177 of the Companies Act.
・Acting for a South African company in a Singapore High Court Suit against a Singapore-listed company over payments of invoices.
