Profile and Expertise
Kate Loo graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) with a first-class honours in Commercial Law. She is admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Prior to reading law, Kate was a paralegal in an offshore law firm and had assisted in complex cross-border project finance transactions in the oil and gas industry. Thereafter, as a practice trainee, Kate was exposed to both corporate and litigation matters, where she was involved in the preparation of take-over documents and due diligence for the acquisitions of multi-national gold mining companies by an SGX listed company, the provision of advice on various legal matters to a non-profit organisation, and the tailoring of service agreements, joint management agreements and commercial leases for the same organisation.
Kate currently practices commercial litigation and is involved in the structuring of debt financing transactions. Since joining the firm, Kate has successfully applied for and resisted various interlocutory applications and winding up applications. She has also assisted Counsel in various Supreme Court matters including, but not limited to, obtaining an order for committal for contempt of court in a civil matter, and a stay of proceedings in a cheque action in favour of arbitration overseas.
