Malaysia is located in the heart of Southeast Asia along the border of Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei and closely located with Singapore and Philippine separated by the sea. Malaysia has been a significant player as “Honor Student” among ASEAN countries.

Also Malaysia had been well known country for rich natural resources and agricultures as exporter from rubber plantation, tin mining, and natural gas drilling industries since colonial period. Changing the economic development brought about Malaysia industrialization and during the course of economy development, Malaysia set its goal attaining a member of advanced countries in 2020, what is called in Malay, “Wawasan” means vision.

The Malaysian legal system has been largely influenced by English Common Law. Malaysia adopted federal system and the Constitution of Malaysia sets out the legal framework and rights of Malaysian citizens as the supreme law of the land. Also Islamic law plays a relatively role in defining the laws which only applies to Muslims on some areas of the country. Recent years, Malaysia is seeking to develop its system and becoming a hub of a neutral, efficient, and reliable provider of dispute resolution services in ASEAN countries, which is known as the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration.
