Profile and Expertise

After being admitted to Tokyo Bar Association, Masao joined one of the largest IT companies in Japan as an in-house lawyer. During that time, he engaged in a wide range of corporate legal matters, focusing on legal support for various IT services, such as media, e-commerce, advertising, Fintech, as well as M&A support.

He is well familiar with intellectual property laws including Copyright Act, Trademark Act, various Internet business regulatory laws, including Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations, Consumer Contract Act, Specified Commercial Transactions Law, Payment Service Act, Act on Regulation of Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail, Electronic Consumer Contract Act, Act on Limitation of Liability of Providers, and Telecommunications Business Act, and other laws. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in large-scale business tie-ups, joint venture projects, and state-of-the-art technology-related projects such as cryptocurrency transactions and digital money payments. He has an established reputation for solving cases with complicated legal issues. He is also certified as Registered Information Security Specialist and handles many cases related to information and data processing laws including Act on the Protection of Personal Information. His experience as an in-house lawyer has enabled him to understand Japanese corporate culture, accurately grasp the demands of corporate clients, and provide the most practical advice.
Currently, he is working at One Asia Lawyers Tokyo Office and Thai Office. He offers a variety of legal support, mainly on general corporate legal matters, including IT legal matters, compliance with personal information and data regulations, support for Japanese companies’ entry into the Southeast Asian markets and Southeast Asian companies’ entry into the Japan market, M&A, cryptocurrency transactions, and ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings).
