Omar H. Khan is the Managing Partner and head of Chambers at Legal Counsel. He is one of the most reputed lawyers in the Country, who has already made his mark in the contemporary legal arena of Bangladesh. In his professional life, he along with the help of his associates has been able to render legal services to his clients to their utmost satisfaction. He has made remarkable progress in his career with the continuous support from his growing client base which extends to over 30 countries from 6 continents. He has pioneered the modern corporate law practice in Bangladesh.
Throughout his illustrious career Mr Khan has been able to maintain the highest level of work ethic and sincerity. He has acted as the head of legal affairs at Grameen Phone Bangladesh, the leading telecommunication company in Bangladesh.
Experience
• Acted for leading Telecommunications Company in respect of an initial public offering (IPO) on Dhaka Stock Exchange, this was the first IPO for a telecommunication company in Bangladesh;
• Advised the concessionaire in the Mongla J3 & J4 project, a PPP project for designing, developing, financing, construction, insurance, operation & maintenance of two jetties at the Monga Port in Bangladesh, the project is valued at USD 660 Million. This involved reviewing, drafting and conducting negotiations of all material Project Agreements for the project;
• Acted for a large Japanese-Bangladeshi Joint Venture hospital in Bangladesh in advising them to facilitate a Japanese ODA fund injection into the company, the investment was BDT 560,000,000 (USD 6.6 Million);
• Advised on M&A for four international development organizations, that has been replicated as a model across the other regions that the organizations operate in;
• Advised on closure of operations of large MNCs;
• Advised on resolutions of industrial disputes for global IT company’s operations in Bangladesh;
• Acted as the sole negotiator representing the Governments of three European countries in a real estate transaction in Bangladesh;
• Advised on restructuring the Bangladesh operations of one of the most renowned international organization in the education sector.
