Myanmar is making a slow but marked evolution from a military dictatorship to a stable democracy.  Economic activity has resumed and foreign ventures are steadily increasing. As a result of the 2015 general elections,
democratization of the government is expected to proliferate.

It must be noted, though, that Myanmar’s international reputation is somewhat tarnished by laws that are still inadequate and/or lacking in international logic.  It is anticipated that in fields such as Company, Intellectual
Property, Competition and Arbitration, laws will be rewritten and/or established over the next few years.
Myanmar has both a dynamic workforce and nearly boundless untapped natural resources. It is sometimes
referred to as “Asia’s Last Frontier.”  With the reforms in progress, its long-term potential economic power
universally projected.

Myanmar’s constantly changing legal landscape provides challenges not seen in the other ASEAN countries.
At One Asia Myanmar, we constantly conduct research into the direction that law reforms will take and offer
practical advice that accounts for gaps in the current laws and also takes into consideration the impact of
possible future legal regulation. Led by our managing partner, together with our experienced local staff,
we provide Myanmar’s best possible legal services.
