The Lease Agreements for Retail Premises Bill was recently introduced to promote fair and balanced bargaining positions between landlords and tenants of certain leases for retail premises by establishing the Fair Tenancy Industry Committee, mandating compliance with certain leasing principles in respect of the terms on which those retail premises may be leased and establishing a dispute resolution process concerning those leasing principles. Such leasing principles are currently set out in the Code of Conduct for Leasing of Retail Premises (Version 2), which is in the process of being finalised.
